Post-Jam Update
Gnome Cooked Goodness » Devlog
Now that the jam is wrapped up, I took some time to record a gameplay video and improve/fix many things!
Gameplay Improvements
- It’s now possible to switch to orc without requiring any ingredients
- Made the gnome’s “light” music play before the cutscene
- The orc’s tutorial text now only shows once ever
- Adjusted the stove launcher so that the gnome doesn’t overshoot the ceiling beam
- Changed the icon for the windows system tray
- Compressed various textures to optimize the build size by 20mb
Visual Improvements
- Adjusted lighting so that the baked lighting works properly on WebGL!
- The instruction text at the orc’s feet now faces the camera instead of the gnome, and only displays while playing as the gnome
- Improved the styling of the “Recipe unlocked” notification
- Improved the texturing of the platforms in the cabinet
- Made meat model slightly smaller
- Made the tutorial text bigger
Bug Fixes
- Fixed bug where toggling the cookbook while playing as an orc would freeze the hand to the middle of the screen
- Fixed some control issues related to messing with the pause screen and cookbook in tandem
- Fixed the orc’s text bubble being visible outside of the cutscene
- Fixed orc’s hand moving away when unpausing while cooking
- Fixed the gnome facing the wrong direction due to clicking then pausing/unpausing or after leaving the shelf immedietly after jumping on it
- Fixed typo where “Baked Potatoes” was incorrectly named “Mashed Potatoes”
